Given its function, there is little to see and do in Masindi itself; rather, the town is seen today as a gateway to the Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda's largest national park, and Budongo Forest. The Masindi Hotel, Uganda's oldest hotel, was built in 1923 by the now-defunct East Africa Railways and Harbours Company. For trivia lovers, amongst the hotel's better-known guests were Ernest Hemingway, Katherine Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart. If you know of other things to do in Masindi, please let us know. |
