Ntungamo is what we would call a "utility town" ~ it has most things you need but its far from cities and its accommodation reflects that. There are a few good places to stay, particularly JT Cottages which is owned and run is owned by a local wealthy family and it shows in the fixtures and fittings. Other accommodation in Ntungamo is mainly lodgings which are cheap and mostly suitable for local travellers. We would recommend George and Gertrude's homestay, which, whilst a few miles from Ntungamo, is close to the main road and is homely, clean and provides delicious local food all for just a few UK pounds a night!
Now, much as we love Ntungamo, having accommodation ourselves a few miles outside of the town, it's not exactly 'cutting edge' when it comes to technology and few hotels and resorts have their own websites, not least because they are few website developers in the area and they are seen as an unnecessary expense mainly as rooms are always available for the passing traveller or business workers. The fact no-one takes credit or debit cards in Ntungamo and the power is often down doesn't exactly help either. As such, most of the accommodation here links to Facebook pages. Oh, and staff work on 'African time' which means there's no hurry to reply to enquiries safe in the knowledge most won't result in a booking anyway and, even if they did, it won't particularly benefit the workers at the accommodation except for creating more work. Customer service Ntungamo style!
