Things to Do in Hoima
Hoima, the historic capital of Uganda’s Bunyoro sub-region, offers visitors many things to see and do reflecting the area’s heritage and scenic landscapes. A must is a visit to the Kibiro Hot Springs, located on the shores of Lake Albert, where visitors can witness traditional salt-making practices and see naturally boiling springs used by local communities. Also check out the Mparo Royal Tombs which provide insight into royal Bunyoro traditions and the kingdom’s past. In Hoima town itself, the Bunyoro King’s Palace (Karuzika) and its museum showcase royal regalia, artefacts, and stories that bring the kingdom’s history to life. Just outside town, the historic Katasiiha Fort offers a glimpse into colonial-era conflicts and resistance, with trenches and caves set in a quiet rural landscape. |
